In the last few weeks baby has morphed from a sweet happy baby into a screaming attention seeking little miss drama queen.
Next week we are going on holiday to Italy for a week and I’m nervous.
Unlike my parents who never really had a child free holiday, being the wrong side of 40 I have had over 20 years of childless holidays. To me a holiday means lie ins. Relaxing by the pool. Doing nothing all day. And sex. I fear that none of these will happen.
I can attest brother. Our first vacation to Florida with my twins was a disaster. I came home from our “vacation” and felt like I needed another vacation. It was more tiring than staying home.
I hope during your holiday in Italy you find some time to relax by the pool, do nothing at least for part of the day AND FIND TIME FOR SEX!
The reality is none of the above will happen.
I am a 48 year old dad with a 2 1/2 year old daughter and 8 month old son. Yes, these are my first and only children.
I too can remember the past 20 (plus) years of relaxing by the pool or on the beach. Drinking till the weeee hours of the morning and sleeping in until brunch. Going for a 4 mile run and doing it all over again.
Now days my Lifetime Fitness membership is only being used for puting my 8 month old in the child care area while I take my 2 1/2 year old to the pool. WORK OUT!! Only when I travel on business do I get a 5 a.m. workout in on the hotel treadmill.
Now all this said- I wouldn’t trade it for anything. The joy these two bring me each day cannot be measured.
Yes, I have not slept well in 3 years but I am told it gets better!!
Yes, sex happens MAYBE once a month and quite frankly….not that exciting anymore. BUT I am told it will return to normal and sometimes even better than before. I am keeping the faith—-
hopefully the resort or hotel you stay in has a great child day care center! Then for at least half the day all your favourite things can happen
